Compositional Techniques 2 My photos

Line

This Photo represents line because of the depth of the hallway. The lines help show depth.

Rhythm and Movement

When you look at this photo the hose is like a squiggly line that shows rhythm and movement when you follow it with your eyes.

Texture

The wall in the background looks rough while the sign looks smooth and help us imagine what it would look like in real life.

Pattern

The same shapes and colors are repeated from a hexagon and a square, and all of the squares are the same colors and all of the hexagons are also the same color.

Contrast

The pink leaves are very colorful compared to its surroundings, and the camera is focused on the leaves.

5 Compositional Techniques 2

Pattern

Butterfly macro

By Parag.naik (Own work) [CC BY-SA 3.0 or GFDL], via Wikimedia Commons
The shapes and the colors on the butterflies wings are symmetrical and have a pattern.

Line

Path, Woods Hole, MA
The path in the forest is the line that helps us see depth in the photo.

Contrast

A Daisy flower
By Halil marx07 (Own work) [GFDL or CC BY-SA 3.0], via Wikimedia Commons
The color in the flower is very different compared to the color of it's surroundings witch helps make the flower more special.

Rhythm and movement

Train Line Points
The tracks curve and make your eyes move in the direction on the tracks to look down them.

Texture

Chocolate Cupcakes with Raspberry Buttercream
You can see the texture i the raspberries because of the bumps and the frosting is shiny. The brownie is dark brown and looks more rough than the ping frosting and the holder win white with these bumps that are evenly spaced apart.

 Rule of thirds

The sun and the tree are both on the lines of the rule of thirds.

Emphasis

The color in the blanket makes it so the blanket really stands out from the other colors in the photo.

Light and Shadow

There is no lighting in this photo except for the small candle that makes us focus on the candle.

Framing

This is a photo of my dog, he is sitting on a chair that has another chair put upside down onto of it. The frame of this picture is the chair.

Compositional techniques

Rule of Thirds

Photo Credit: Richard Walker Photography via Compfight cc

This photo is a great example of the rule of thirds because of the wheel and the sun that are on the rule of thirds line.

 Emphasis

Stand Out from The Crowd Unique Golf Tee Game September 19, 20119

This photo is a great example of emphasis because of how much attention is drawn to the white tee compared to the orange tees because of how muck they fit in.

Angle

Top of a Coca-Cola can

This photo is not taken from the front, because if it was it would look like a cartoon. This photo is taken from an angle to make it look more realistic.

Framing

Nowa Ruda Nadrzeczna 2 - klatka schodowa

By Jarek Ciuruś Jar.ciurus (Own work) [CC BY-SA 3.0 pl], via Wikimedia Commons

This photo represents framing because of how the photographer is trying to dray the attention to a certain thing like the stairs.

Lights and Shadows

Light bulb

The light and the shadow in this picture is used to draw attention to a certain object like this lightbulb.
